RUN OF SHOW · 42a
Run-of-show: Monument Bank × 42a
The demo's run-of-show, for the partner meeting on Wednesday 7 October 2026. Every sentence here has been run against the demo's tools, and every rate, date, rule and illustration comes from Monument's own Summary Boxes on monument.co (read 5 October 2026). Bank Rate comes from the Bank of England, read live. British English throughout.

Running order
| # | Scenario | Persona | Time | What it proves |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | £60,000, new to Monument, where? | olivia | 3 min | The real shelf, ranked; the new-client rule; Bank Rate read live |
| 2 | £25,000 for 12 months in each | olivia | 2 min | Our numbers match the bank's own illustrations to the penny |
| 3 | My fixed term matures next month | james | 2 min | The published options, the default, and an honest "not published" |
| 4 | How do I actually open it? | olivia | 2 min | Eligibility rule by rule; the app is the only front door |
| 5 | Should I put some into shares? | david, priya | 3 min | The advice guardrail, model-free; what a 4th withdrawal costs |
| 6 | Mortgages? Joint account? Desktop login? | guest | 1 min | Three honest no's, each with the bank's own link |
| - | The console (/journeys, /dashboard) | - | 3 min | The half that is not the chatbot |
Short run (7 minutes): 1 → 2 → 5. The real shelf, the bank's own numbers, and a regulated line the assistant will not cross.
1 · £60,000, new to Monument: where does it earn the most?
Persona: olivia
What is real: every rate line, effective date and rule; the Bank of England Bank Rate.
What is demo: Olivia herself (her £60,000 and her not being a client yet).
What to type
I've got £60,000 and I'm new to you, where does it earn the most?
What happens after a year?
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | find_savings_account (amount 60,000, new client) | accounts, ranked by AER |
| 1 | sometimes compare_savings_accounts on the top three | compare |
| 2 | bank_rate_today, often get_savings_account (Tracker) | bankrate |
What you see
Turn 1. The published lines, highest AER first: Welcome Saver 4.47% gross / 4.56% AER (variable) for 12 months (new clients only), the Easy Access Cash ISA Boosted Rate 4.34% AER (with "new money into an ISA is capped at the £20,000 allowance"), the 95 Day Notice Account 4.09% AER, the 12 Month Fixed Term Deposit 4.00% AER (fixed). Each line says why it is there, and the offers carry the rule: it must be her first Monument account, or opened within 14 days of it. The note says the £25,000 minimum is combined across accounts (so the sum can be split), and it says out loud: "This ranks the published rates; it is not a recommendation."
Turn 2. Bank Rate, read live from the Bank of England: 3.75% (2 October 2026), next decision 5 November 2026. The Welcome Saver becomes an Easy Access Tracker after its year: Bank Rate minus 0.50% gross, floor 0.10%, so 3.25% gross today. That Tracker number is marked "computed": Monument does not print it. And: "Nobody can say where it goes next."
End state
Olivia knows the four lines that pay most, the rule on each, and what the Welcome Saver turns into. Nothing has been chosen for her.
2 · Show me £25,000 for 12 months in each
Persona: olivia
What is real: the rates, and the bank's own illustrations printed beside ours.
What is demo: nothing in the numbers.
What to type
Show me £25,000 for 12 months in each
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | illustrate_interest (welcome-saver, fixed-12, easy-access-savings; 25,000) | illustration |
What you see
£26,140.00 in the Welcome Saver, £26,000.00 in the 12 Month Fixed, £25,880.00 in Easy Access Savings. Under each, "Monument's own example" with the same figure: the assistant uses the bank's own method, so it matches the Summary Box to the penny. The assumptions fold open (one deposit, rate unchanged, interest kept in the account), and the footer says it is an illustration, not a quote.
End state
The room sees that the numbers are the bank's, not the model's.
3 · My fixed term matures next month, what are my options?
Persona: james
What is real: the maturity rule, the default (Easy Access Savings), today's rates.
What is demo: James's accounts and balances.
What to type
My fixed term matures next month, what are my options?
OK, take me there.
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | get_my_savings, then maturity_options (preview) | mysavings, handoff |
| 2 | maturity_options with confirmed: true | handoff (App Store, Play) |
What you see
Turn 1. His £100,000 12 Month Fixed matures on 2 November 2026. Monument emails 30 days before. The options as published: reinvest (12 Month Fixed 4.00% AER, 6 Month Fixed 3.75% AER today), withdraw to his Linked Account, or do nothing and it moves to Easy Access Savings (3.52% AER variable). And the honest line: Monument offers "exclusive Loyalty" rates for reinvesting but does not publish them: he sees them in the app. The FSCS limit appears as information (he holds £148,500). No link yet.
Turn 2. The handoff: App Store, Google Play, the Fixed Term Deposits page, a reference MB-…, and "Nothing has been reinvested, moved or changed here."
End state
James knows his date, his default and his choices; the choice itself happens in the app.
4 · How do I actually open it?
Persona: olivia
What is real: the eligibility rules, the four steps, the app listings.
What is demo: Olivia's age and city (from her profile).
What to type
Am I eligible for the Welcome Saver? I have a current account with another UK bank.
How do I actually open it?
Yes, go ahead.
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | check_eligibility (welcome-saver) | eligibility |
| 2 | start_application (preview) | handoff (the four steps) |
| 3 | start_application with confirmed: true | handoff (App Store, Play) |
What you see
Turn 1. Rule by rule, each with its source: 18 or over, UK resident, a personal UK Linked Account, £25,000 combined, new to Monument: Yes. Sole name and a smartphone: To confirm. "The app does the real checks, including ID verification." It never asks for an ID number.
Turn 2. The four steps in the app: download it, verify your identity, add your Linked Account, choose the Welcome Saver and pay in within 14 days. No link yet.
Turn 3. App Store and Google Play first, then the Welcome Saver page, a reference MB-…, and on its face: "Nothing has been opened, moved or applied for here."
End state
Olivia is one tap from the App Store. The assistant opened nothing.
5 · I've got £410k with you. Should I put some into shares?
Persona: david, then priya
What is real: the advice rule, Client Services' hours and routes, the FSCS limit, the Limited Access Saver's published rates.
What is demo: David's and Priya's balances.
What to type
- (
david) > I've got £410k with you. Should I put some into shares? - (
priya) > Can I take £5,000 out of my Limited Access Saver today?
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | find_savings_account answers with the advice rule, then request_licensed_advisor | advisor |
| 2 | check_withdrawal (limited access saver, 5,000) | withdrawal |
What you see
Turn 1. No accounts, no pick. The bank rule: "I can explain how each Monument account works and what it pays, but I cannot tell you what to do with your money", the not-advice line, and the routes to a person: in-app chat with Client Services, 020 4524 8080, service@monument.co, with the hours, and the route to a regulated financial adviser. For information only: FSCS protects up to £120,000 per person per bank. This runs before any model: the guardrail is code, not a prompt.
Turn 2. Priya has used 3 withdrawals this Anniversary Year, so this would be her 4th: from it, the rate drops from 3.74% to 3.24% AER until 15 January 2027, about £36.97 less interest on what is left (illustrative). "Nothing has been withdrawn: you do that in the Monument app."
End state
The bank sees the line a regulated assistant will not cross, and a client warned before a costly withdrawal rather than after.
6 · Do you do mortgages? Joint account? Desktop login?
Persona: guest (no token)
What is real: every answer, with the bank's own link.
What is demo: nothing.
What to type
Do you do mortgages? Joint account? Desktop login?
What runs
| Turn | Tool | Widget |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | find_savings_account answers with "not offered" | advisor |
What you see
Three honest no's in one answer: Monument does not offer mortgages (it is a savings-only bank); its accounts are in a sole name only; it is app-only, with no desktop or browser banking. Each with a monument.co link. No fuzzy match onto a savings account.
End state
The assistant is as useful for what Monument does not do as for what it does.
The console: the half that is not the chatbot
/journeys: every chat above, as the bank sees it: what the client wanted (in their words), which tools ran, what came back, and where it ended (the app, or a person)./dashboard: the funnel (discover, Summary Box, personal, handoff), the tool chain, and the flows editor where the bank changes behaviour without a deploy./dashboard/rules: the bank rules. Flip New-client offers to "Hide" and ask scenario 1 again: the Welcome Saver and the Boosted ISA disappear from the ranking, and the answer says the rule applied. Type a "should I" into Try it to see the advice rule fire. Reset afterwards.
What NOT to say, and what the demo does not do
| Do not say | Say instead |
|---|---|
| "We opened an account for Olivia" | "Olivia is one tap from the App Store; the account is opened in the Monument app" |
| "This is the best rate on the market" | "These are Monument's published rates, highest first" |
| Any other bank's name, or a comparison with one | "The assistant speaks for Monument only" |
| A tax answer beyond the published ISA facts | "Tax-free ISA interest and the £20,000 allowance; anything personal is for HMRC or an adviser" |
| Anything about Lifestyle or Membership | "Membership ended on 26 May 2026; Lifestyle has no return date" |
| A Loyalty reinvestment rate | "Monument does not publish them; they are shown in the app" |
| "The assistant recommends the Welcome Saver" | "It ranks the published rates and routes any 'should I' to a person" |
| "This is live account data" | "The clients are demo personas; the accounts, rates and rules are real" |
